Saby Behar is Financial Resource Development Chair and Immediate Past President of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation. He also currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Center for the Advancement of Jewish Education (CAJE).
A native of Lima, Peru, Saby has been active in the Jewish community his entire life. In Lima, he attended Colegio León Pinelo, a Jewish day school, and was involved in Hanoar Hatzioni, the worldwide Zionist youth movement. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1968 and attended New York University, earning a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and an MBA.
Saby has lived in Miami since the 1970’s and has been active in the Jewish community since his arrival first as a leader in the Federation’s International Division, the Young Leadership Committee and then in the Community Planning and Allocations Committee, the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee. He also served as Federation’s General Campaign Chairman. Saby is a past member of the Executive Committee of the UJA Young Leadership Cabinet, a Wexner Heritage Fellow and a recipient of the Stanley C. Myers Presidents Leadership Award in 1986.
Professionally, Saby is a real estate developer and the CEO of General Stair Corporation, which he co-founded in 1987. Saby and his wife Rosi have three sons.
He is a Committee Member since March 2009.
