Greville Janner, a member of the British House of Lords, joined Jewish Agency Chairman Zeev Bielski on December 31, 2008, on his visit to the towns in Southern Israel currently under fire.
Lord Janner, who has been involved in Jewish and Israeli affairs for over fifty years, came to visit all the sites visited by the Chairman.

Lord Janner visited the town of Sderot, which has been the target of attacks for already eight years. Together with the Jewish Agency’s Chairman and Treasurer, the Lord met with the town’s mayor-elect, David Buskila, and the municipal department heads. Buskila presented an overview of what is being done in Sderot, the special needs that have arisen due to the situation, and the remarkable fortitude of the town’s residents.
Lord Janner has been publicly active on behalf of Jews in England and around the world for over fifty years. He joined the British military at the age of 18 and was the British army’s youngest war crimes investigator in occupied Germany. On weekends, he worked with Jewish refugees in the displaced persons camp, which had formerly been the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp.
He has served many senior positions among British Jewry, and even to this very day, at the age of eighty, he is active on behalf of Israel and world Jewry.
