Cheryl Fishbein has a long history of voluntary leadership involvements, most recently as chair of the Hurricane Katrina Relief Committee at UJA-Federation of New York, chair of the Network Council and chair of Missions.  She is on the Board of UJA-Federation and the 2008 recipient of the Generosity of Spirit Award at UJA.  She is a member of the Board of Governors of the Jewish Agency and past chair of the Caring Commission and the Trauma Task Force.  She is on the Belarus and Moldova Committee of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee. 

Cheryl serves on the Board of Governors and the Executive Committee of the American Jewish Committee and is chair of the Commission on Jewish Contemporary Life.  She is on the Board of the JCRC where she co-chairs the Commission on Intergroup Relations; the Jewish Home and Hospital Board; the Executive Committee and Board of the JCC Association of North America; the Board of Directors of United Jewish Communities where she chairs the Family Caregiver Committee; the JCPA Board and several other boards of non-profit agencies. She serves on the International Board of Governors of the Diaspora Museum at Tel Aviv University, and is the President of the American Friends.  She serves as Secretary of Israel 21c. 

Cheryl also practices clinical psychology and divorce mediation, and has worked as an attorney at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. She holds a doctorate in psychology from SUNY at Stony Brook, a law degree from New York University and a bachelor’s in psychology from Barnard College.  She is married to Philip Schatten and they have four children.
