Joe Kopelowitz 1906- 2007

December 27, 2007 / 18 Tevet 5768

The oldest donor to the Jewish Agency passed away at a ripe old age. Joseph Kopelowitz (101), the senior donor to the Jewish Agency in terms of age,  a respected member of  Jewish Federation of Greater Miami, and one of the most important donors to Kiryat Moriah died at his home in Miami, Florida (December 25, 2007).

Leon Levitas from the Department of Resource Development who knew the deceased relates:

Yesterday, December 25, Mr. Joseph Kopelowitz passed away at his home in Miami, Florida. At 101, Joseph was the oldest donor to the Jewish Agency. Together with his departed wife Betty they contributed generously to refurbish the dormitories at the educational campus in Kiryat Moriah.

In practice all the dormitory buildings were renovated thanks to contributions by the Kopelowitz couple. Thanks to Joseph and Betty Kopelowitz as well as thanks to other donors the educational campus has received a striking and modern new look and the students attending the various Jewish Agency programs have benefited from the comfortable accommodations. May their memory be blessed.
