Enhancing the Tisha B'Av Experience
July 25, 2007 / 10 Av 5767

Yesterday, due to the fast of the Ninth of Av, marking the destruction of both temples, we thought it appropriate to keep the activity relatively subdued. The major activity recreating the siege of Jerusalem was a "fortress day" an educational game challenge for the campers. Due to the fast, a large proportion of the campers didn't arrive. In the evening we ran things in reverse (namely activity throughout the night) for the 7th and 8th graders.

Yehuda Sharf, the Jewish Agency's Israel Region director paid a visit to the summer
camps on the eve of the ninth of Av.

One stop was at the camp run by Rabbi Grossman's Migdal Or Foundation in Netivot. There,
Yehudah met with children from Sderot.

The campers primarily dwelt on the meaning of the upcoming day - Tisha B'Av, with some of the younger children engaged in creative projects to commemorate the destruction of the Temple.
