Weeks of Fun for the Children of Sderot

With the generous support of our partners at United Jewish Communities, Jewish Federations across North America and Keren Hayesod, the Jewish Agency for Israel provided an exciting array of free summer camps over seven weeks in July and August to over 8,000 children, aged 6-17, from Sderot and the surrounding area.

Trauma Counseling

Counselors and staff at the Jewish Agency summer camps for the children of Sderot received special training in assisting campers with post-traumatic stress. "The youth movement counselors said that they see signs of trauma and stress in kids all the time, but they were never taught how to address these issues. Thousands of new immigrant children and children from disadvantaged communities in the North and Sderot received a gift certificate to buy new school supplies at Office Depot through the Jewish Agency's Making the Grade program.
