The 5th class of the Alei Tzameret leadership course, for the development of volunteer young Zionist leadership for Israeli society, will open in the Jewish Agency headquarters in Jerusalem on November 28. The course, established and operated by the Zionist Council in Israel, will train 80 students, ages 25 – 40, from all over Israel. Partners in the course include the Israel Department of the Jewish Agency for Israel, the World Jewish Congress, and Keren Hayesod, all of whom will bring a special emphasis this year on world Jewry and Israeli/Diaspora relations. A further emphasis on the course will be the fostering practical volunteer experiences, in platforms of the Jewish Agency such as Partnership 2000 and Youth Futures.
The course will involve bi-monthly meetings throughout the academic year and 3 weekend seminars, and will host several leading Israeli academics, including professors Sergio Della Pergola, Amnon Sofer, Eliezer Shweid, and Yehezkel Dror.
