Nearly 90 Partnership 2000 chairs, professionals and activists are attending the National Partnership 2000 Conference being held May 7-8 in Newark, New Jersey - "Building on Excellence for the Next Decade of Partnerships".

Jane Sherman, Co-Chair of the Jewish Agency Board of Governors Israel Committee, opened the conference, with IDF Chief of Staff (Reserve) Moshe Yaalon giving the keynote address.
Participants are taking part in workshops:
- Marketing and Leveraging P2K in your Federation and Community
- Coalition Building - Creating a Common Agenda
- National Strategic Plans for the Development of Priority Regions in Cooperation with Worldwide Jewry
Capping off the event is the first annual Partnership 2000 awards ceremony and gala luncheon, moderated by Paula Edelstein, Chair of the Jewish Agency Board of Governors Israel Committee. Awards were presented for programs in the areas of
- People to People Connections - Emergency Response Group (Western Galilee - UJC Central Area Consortium)
- Education - School Twinnings (Tel Aviv - Los Angeles)
- Youth and Young Leadership - Young Emissaries Program (Afula-Gilboa - SNEC)
- Community Development - Limud Galil (Confrontation Line - Great Britain)
