For the first time, on January 21, 2001 a Regional Bible Quiz took place in Ein Geddi. The Jordan Valley Religious Regional council's Torah Culture Department headed by Mr. Ami Shor organized the contest. The Shlomo Avivi Hall is customarily used for cultural events but doubtlessly, the Bible Quiz was an extraordinary and very exciting event in that it is something that the Jewish People have in common, something that unites and distinguishes them for more than 3400 years - the Bible.
These days of discord between different trends in the Jewish Nation, we found something we have in common, something such as the children of 2001 who went on stage one by one, to compete for the title of "Bible Groom" and Bible Bride". Something such as the numerous children who filled the Avivi Hall and supported their friends.
The contest was at two levels - fifth and sixth graders and Junior High 7th and 8th grade students. There were 18 contestants, students from the "Shitim School" in the Central Arava, the six-class school in Ein Geddi, the school in Maale Efraim, and the "Gfanim School" in the Jordan Valley.
