FEDEX - $140 MILLION MOTOROLA ORDER BOLSTERS ARAD

US shipping giant Federal Express (FedEx) has ordered 40,000 advanced hand-held terminals from Motorola Israel at a cost of $150 million. Motorola Israel develops the terminals at its plant in Arad. Thanks to this order Motorola has strengthened its grip on the terminals market for shipping companies. Motorola Israel now supplies such terminals to UPS, Deutsche Post, and Airborne Express as well. The terminal transmits through GPRS cellular data communications, connecting the delivery person with the company center. Every terminal is equipped with a Bluetooth system, connected to a laser printer for printing labels, located in the delivery vehicle. According to FedEx the terminals would save his company $20 million annually.
