Our six-year tradition continues: 10 athletes of Arad-Tamar are on their way to triumph in the JCC Maccabi games in the United States!
Preparations have been underway since April, beginning with a difficult screening process and the final choice of ten talented athletes. They were selected for their athletic prowess as well as their knowledge of English and their well-mannered behavior. The most important quality we looked for was the self-confidence necessary to represent our region with pride and dignity.
A group of fine athletes were chosen to represent Arad-Tamar, New Jersey-Delaware in several fields of sport: tennis, table tennis, swimming, volleyball and basketball.
This year, our athletes will participate in the JCC Maccabi games in Boston and Washington as members of the teams of our partner federations.
During the first part of their two-week visit, the athletes will be hosted at the homes of families in our partner communities of Delaware, Central New Jersey, Cherry Hill and Monmouth County. They will meet their fellow athletes and become an integral part of each delegation. During the second week of their stay, the athletes and their chaperones, Tair Zaeh and Riki Medual, will travel to the game sites and be members of the teams of New Jersey and Delaware.
For two weeks, the children of Arad-Tamar will take part in the JCC Macabbi Games program, whose purpose is to enrich the bond between the partner communities. To this end, the participants and their chaperones underwent specific training workshops of the Macabbi World Organization and the Jewish Agency in order to prepare them to properly represent their communities.
We'd like to wish our delegation a safe trip and of course, don't forget to bring home lots of medals! We're very proud of all of you!
