The children from the Levaot Elementary school in Arad have found new friends abroad through Partnership 2000.
This is how it all began:
A teachers mission from our partner communities in New Jersey and Delaware came last summer for a brief visit to Arad. Among all the places they visited, their coffee break at Ruti's home left a lasting impression. Ruti Borovski is an elementary school teacher in Arad and an active volunteer in Partnership 2000. Ruti opened her home and her heart to this group of teachers and, as a result, a bond was formed.
Through this connection, the teachers organised a pen pal program where students from Arad communicate with students from the States on a regular basis. The teacher in charge in Israel is Chava Weiss and abroad is Shifra Chasan. The program is a wonderful way to build a bridge between the communities abroad and in Israel- the kids are enriched from the experience .
Our future is in the hands of our children and we can learn from them a great deal about how connections are built and strengthened through simple actions - a kind word and a short letter can go a long way!
