NJ-Delaware Mourns Arad Soldier

3.7.2006

by Idan Kligerman, Partnership 2000 Community Shaliach

Shalom to all.

The summer is officially here with the start of camp. Like every year, we have 4 Israeli counselors working at JCC camps at Medford. Two of them are from our partnership community in Arad. Their names are Maritsa and Shiran from Arad, Efrat from Jerusalem and Lee from Kiryat Bialik.

Yesterday we woke up to a worst case scenario that we always try to avoid in Israel. If you don’t know by now, yesterday morning near a small town called Kerem shalom, 6 Hamas terrorists(yes, that is the same organization that rule the government of the Palestinians) dug a tunnel and invaded Israel, killed an officer and a soldier  and than kidnapped the third.  Hanan Barak was a 21 years young officer that commanded the tank that was attacked. He fought bravely to react to the horrible attack but he couldn’t, and so did Pavel, his soldier that died too.

Hanan was in my sister’s, Maritsah’s and Shiran’s class, born and raised in Arad. The Shivah (the seven day off mourning) is held in the family’s house in Arad, we are going to send our condolences from our community to our sister city. Send your families or agencies condolences to me and we will forward them to the families

Please feel free to spread this email so we will have a lot of support to show our brothers and sisters we are thinking of them. All email can be sent to this email: Idan@jfedsnj.org

One last request please pray during services this week for Gilad’s safe return.
