Tourism Conference in London
8.1.2007

Ofra Gazit, Director of Advertising, Marketing, Tourism and Public Relations of the Tamar Regional Council

A major tourism conference was held in London in November- Ofra Gazit from the Tamar Regional Council reports:

The Dead Sea Spa Project was a huge hit and received a tremendous amount of national and international media coverage!! As expected, the photos spoke for themselves.

The Dead Sea Spa exhibit, which was 100 meters, specially designed, was successful in conveying a clean and calm message (in the midst of a sea of colors and noise of the convention), and exposed the natural resources of our region: mud and salt. The Spa was so unique that it echoed through out the exhibits from all over the globe.

At the Spa exhibit, specials treatments were given to the passersby by local experts especially, Galit Herman, the Director of the Spa of the Crown Plaza hotel of the Dead Sea and a member of Moshav of Ein Tamar. The treatment schedule was fully booked throughout the conference and many participants thoroughly enjoyed them and were exposed to its many assets.

Opening day was extremely festive and it was officiated by the Minister of Tourism, Mr. Itchak Herzog, and the Chairman of the Ministry of Tourism, Mr. Nachum Izkovitz and the Director of the Tamam Municipality, Mr. Dov Litvinoff. The three were surrounded by local beauties such as Bar Rafaeli , the beauty representative of Israel.

Israel prepared a festive reception for the leaders of British Tourism at the new soccer filed of Arsenal team, with the participation of one of the team members, Mr. Ian Right. Ian, spoke highly of Israel and received as a gift an airline ticket to Israel from our Minister of Tourism. In addition, at the press conference, the Director of International Tourism, Mr. Francesco Prangeli, stated that despite the security issues, there has been a substantial increase in Middle Eastern Tourism in the past few years. The Israeli exhibit was very attractive and captured the attention of many visitors, in particular the Dead Sea Spa Exhibit.

31 Israeli exhibits participated in an area over 520 meters wide. At the Israeli exhibit, you could find “Osem” foods; models showed the fashion designs of “Gottex” and jewelry of “Michal Negrin”.
