PITTSBURGH EDUCATORS RENEW TIES IN REGION

The educators participated in an educator's conference about "coexistence", that lasted 10 days in the western Galilee region. On June 20th they arrived for a visit in Carmiel schools.

They started the visit in "Hadekel" elementary school. They were very impressed by the pet corner in the School, where the children can come in, stroke and take care of the pets. With the school principal, Bruria Shmian, they visited in the "Ulpan" class, which gives the new immigrants the tools to adjust to the Israeli language.

Afterwards, they reached "Eshkol" elementary school. Ruth Skarishevsky, the principal, showed them the evironment and reclying projects and another projects the pupils have made during the year.

All the educators met for lunch with Karmiel and Misgav educators that had visited to the communities last year. Menachem Shichal, manager of the education department in Karmiel joined them. During lunch, the pupils played for them in organs, mandolins and drums.

All the participants express their desire to strength the connection between schools. The last school they visited in was "Alon" Elementry School. Malka Gilboa, school principal, showed them the presentations the pupils have made on the computers and the after-school club that works in school everyday after the school hours.

The day after all 45 American educators that participated in the conference came for a visit to Misgav regional council. They visited Kaukav- an Arab village near misgav and the sculpture garden that was built by sculptors from all over the world. Afterwards they were hosted by "Galilee" bilingual school. The 2 principals (one is Jewish and the other Arab) told them about the school history and the activities they have done for coexistence.
