WOMEN'S FORUM - NEWS
by Rachela Rozenthal and Aya Ovadia

The women's forum of Partnership 2000 Karmiel-Misgav has changed direction and officially became the women's forum association of Karmiel Misgav.

This change of definition enables the women's forum to rum its own budget and to encourage fund raising independently.

The Hila BaGalil walk will also be somewhat different starting spring 2003. It was decided that the march should be scheduled on a Friday morning, on the period between Purim and Passover. The track would vary from one year to another, in order to enable the residents of the region as well as all participants to enjoy the wide range of scenery of the Galilee.

English Cafe is held with great success. Two groups of women meet on Sunday and Tuesday mornings to socialize improve their English on a cup of coffee.

The women's forum delegation is scheduled to visit the communities on May 2002 for 10 days, during which they will take part in the traditional "race to the future" march in Pittsburgh.

As part of the joint activities with the US partners (Baltimore and Pittsburgh), it was decided to publish a joint "cook-book". A special event is planned, where every chef can present a dish, and the best ones will be included in the "cook-book".

Two other new projects to be launched in the coming few weeks are a center for the pampering of women undergoing treatment, and a second hand store.

The idea of pampering center was born in Baltimore. The goal is to supply different beauty services (manicure, pedicure, hair-cut etc.) to women undergoing medical treatment, who are often uncomfortable in coming to ordinary beauty centers for these services.

The other project is a second hand store. In this store people can buy furniture and home supplies that are used (but in a great condition), for a symbolic price. The forum is now looking for a place to hold the store/warehouse.

The forum also works on other ideas for further projects and the development of new contents for women's empowerment in Karmiel-Misgav.

We welcome all women who wish to volunteer and take part in this important project. For further information please contact Efrat at 9998026.
