During the first weeks of June, 2 more student delegations from our partner communities, Baltimore and Pittsburgh, visited the region. Activities took place via the Jewish Agency "Living Bridge" programs in the region.
The first delegation was made up of 15 students, from Baltimore, studying for their 2nd degree in community work. The students visited Kishorit and an Ethiopian immigrants' employment club. They also met Shula Menachem (Manager of the Social Work Dept. in the Karmiel Municipality) to hear about the departments' activities, Hana Koval (General Manager, Karmiel Municipality) and Roma Manor (General Manager, Misgav Regional Council) to get some background information on the municipalities and their broad connections to the Pittsburgh and Baltimore communities. They later on met with Bedouin youth in Salame, a Bedouin village.
The second delegation was made up of 6 students from Pittsburgh who arrived in Israel through the "Livnot" program. The students were in the region for 3 days during which the stayed with hosting families. The volunteered in Kishorit, the National Guard, and the Soup Kitchen. Also, they met with girls participating in the "Warm House", a club operated by the Karmiel welfare services, with Bedouin youth and students from Ort Braude College.
