This is the second year in which 10 young families from Moldova were absorbed in the Karmiel absorption center and in the city of Carmiel, within a unique project funded by the Jewish community of Pittsburgh.
This is a project mutual to the Jewish Agency, the United Jewish Federation of Pittsburgh and the Karmiel Municipaliy.
The first 5 families have finished their stay in the absorption center and have moved into the city. 5 additional families are now in their first absorption stages and in the future will move into permanent housing in the city.
A festive reception for the families was held in the absorption center on January 9th. Among the many participants were Mrs. Rina Grinberg, deputy mayor of Karmiel, Liliya Visman (A veteren immigrant and a volunteer in the absorption dept.), Pnina Biderman and Ziona Izenshtein (JAFI) who met the families in Moldova, Yael Raich (Carmiel-Migav regional manager-JAFI), Shimon Galsinsky and Svetlana Rosenthal (Carmiel Municipality) and the project "graduates" (first class) who welcomed the absorbed families and praised their decision to settle in Carmiel.
