With the beginning of Pesach, a group of 4 girls (aged 17-18) from Pittsburgh arrived in Karmiel. The girls are reps. Of the Pitts. Youth council that was founded a few months ago, and its purpose is to strengthen the ties with youth in Karmiel and Misgav. The councils work together through the Jewish Agency's "Partnership 2000" program.
Within the framework of their joint activities, both youth councils held a Tu'Bshvat Seder via videoconference and another conference call focused on the Jewish-Arab relations.
The group stayed with hosting families in Shorashim and Karmiel. The hosting girls accompanied the group to all of the activities.
Their program included: A trip to the Betzet stream, bowling in the "Keryon" mall, a visit to the Bedouin village, Kamana, and a meeting with Bedouin youth.
The program also included a trip to Rosh Hanikra and an ethnic tour of Akko. The group took part in the Hilla Walk, organized by the Karmiel-Misgav Women's Forum. Its purpose is to enhance the awareness and early discovery of breast cancer. The walk took place in spite of the bad weather that day.
The last day of their visit included a tour of the Golan and rafting in the Jordan river, together with the youth council reps. of Karmiel and Misgav.
