On June 22nd, a delegation from Pittsburgh's Temple Sinai, a Reform congregation, visited the Carmiel-Misgav Region as part of a Jewish Agency Partnership 2000 mission.
This was the first time that a delegation from the synagogue had ever visited the region in an organized manner.
The 24 member strong delegation with participants from ages 12-78 arrived on the evening of the 22nd for a visit to Har Halutz community village, a community associated with the World Reform Movement. Lori Melman, a resident of Har Halutz, met with the group for a tour of the community and a visit to its synagogue. Later, members of the group met for dinner with volunteer families from Carmiel and Misgav, who also hosted them for the night. Following dinner, the families enjoyed an evening of Israeli folk dancing, led by Devorah Israeli from Manof. The following day, the group visited the ancient ruins of Yodfat, with the guidance of Rabbi Marc Rozenshten.
