Six Pittsburgh area teachers visited the Carmiel-Misgav region during a visit sponsored by the Jewish Agency's Partnership 2000 program.
Following a visit to Poland and a number of days in the Jerusalem area, the six Pittsburgh area teachers arrived on July 8th for a visit in the region. The group was hosted by six Carmiel-Misgav families who also joined them for various day trips in the Galilee. For most of the American group, this was their first visit to Israel.
The group participated in a day trip that investigated the subject of "Minorities in the Galilee" during which they met with the coordinator of a women's project for widows in the village of Maghar, an artist from Elaboon and a community mediation project in Salameh. The group also visited the "mukhtar's house" of the village Peqi'in where they saw a play titled "Neighbors".
On their last day of their visit, the group toured the ruins the ancient site of Yodfat and conducted a tree planting ceremony at the Pittsburgh-Baltimore Walkway located in Carmiel's Givat Ram neighborhood.
