The Pittsburgh Community Donates NIS.2 Million for Renovation of Bomb Shelters

The Head of the regional council, Erez Kreizler, met with President and CEO of the United Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh, Jeffrey H. Finkelstein, who informed him that the community had responded to the request made by Misgav and would be granting a donation of NIS.2 million for the purpose of renovating the bomb shelters at Misgav community villages.

Erez Kreizler, the head of the council arrived in the USA for a round of meetings with leading personages in the Pittsburgh community.  At the meeting held with Jeffrey H. Finkelstein, President of the United Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburg, he was informed that the community would donate NIS.2 million towards renovating the bomb shelters at Misgav settlements.

After the Second Lebanese War, the head of the Misgav council approached representatives of the Pittsburgh community and asked for their assistance in the renovation and upgrading of the bomb shelters in the Misgav region.  Last week he was informed that the community would assist Misgav in renovating the bomb shelters.  The amounts to be transferred are the result of donations raised by the community during the war.

Tzadok Yiftach, head of the Misgav Security Wing, said today that the monies from the donation will be added to the NIS.400,000 budgeted to the council by the Prime Minister's Office for the upgrade of public bomb shelters in northern villages (north of highway 805).   The Pittsburgh donation monies will be used to upgrade bomb shelters in the remainder of Misgav villages in accordance with a detailed plan submitted by the regional council to the Jewish Agency who are to undertake the work involved.
