A delegation of 10 area young people, students in grades 10-11, visited Pittsburgh at the begining of May 2008 to take an active role in Memorial Day and Independence Day events sponsored by the city's local Jewish Community. The Jewish Agency/Partnership 2000, the from and Karmiel Community Centers jointly sponsored the delegation.
Lilach Vaxman Rana from Karmiel and Ronen Bussi from from, led the delegation.
The young people brought a youthful and refreshing Israeli spirit to Pittsburgh's schools, synagogues and community centers. They performed an "Israel Independence Day" performance in the city's Jewish day schools before students and pupils grades 4-12 and various area synagogues.
The visit's highlight undoubtedly was the community's Memorial Day event, led by the delegation. The evening included a variety of dance, song, poetry and dramatic segments. According to Maymon Peer, the community's Israeli shlicha, "the young people's talent, charm and particularly their authenticity brought the large audience to tears. I want to thank Partnership 2000 for the opportunity to allow us to bring Israel to Pittsburgh."
The next day, Israel's 60th Independence Day the community gathered for a giant happening. There the delegation performed before an audience of an estimated 2,000-3,000 with a colorful performance of Israeli songs & dances.

The delegation received a positive and enthusiastic response from members of the community who were highly impressed by the professional manner in which they were prepared, their talented performances, excellent English and the authentic Israeli spirit that came across so wonderfully during this visit.
