About our Project: Our Ethiopian integration project began in 1999. Our basic idea was to embrace a small group of kindergarten children from the Ethiopian community and provide them with the necessary academic and social tools for school in a unique preparatory program for 1st grade. The program was based on weekly sessions suitable to Ethiopian culture and values, while creative thinking and adaptation to the special needs of Ethiopian immigrants were taken into consideration. Gradually, we gained the children's trust, through which a special bond was established.

The program resulted in three new students from the Ethiopian community who began their studies as first graders at Reali, and have proven to be capable, sociable, confident and independent students.

Today these children are in the 5th grade. We at Reali provide them with: extra help in their studies four times a week, hot lunches and extra curricular activities, school supplies (books, notebooks, uniform etc.) and school summer camp.

This might be your way to promote equal opportunities, by giving a chance to a young child who needs your help.

Your sponsorship (A Yearly Scholarship of 10,000 Nis) can be carried out in three possible ways:

    * Direct sponsorship - the child gets to meet the sponsor.

    * One-way sponsorship - the sponsor receives information about the child without meeting him/her.

    * Anonymous sponsorship.

"Studying at Reali is even more fun than summer vacation! I couldn't wait to get back to school. I missed my friends, my teacher and my principal. I even missed homework assignments.

Sometimes it's difficult, but I manage. For example, I don't like preparing homework in Torah, but Shoshi, our principal, who is like our friend, helps me out and even takes me to plays and movies. I feel like I've been given a gift, so I do my best.

Our school is special. I love it. We get lots of help from our teachers. Sometimes things aren't so fun, like when kids ask me if I'm poor or why I'm black...but then all the girls get their hair braided like mine. I guess kids here don't know anybody different from them. But I don't care, I love school and want to stay here! I only hope my younger sister will also come to study at Reali."
